Telehealth growth of 3 percent is a big deal

A three percent increase in just about anything might seem insignificant, but for telemedicine services it shows some great promise. The 2015 HIMSS Analytics’ Essentials Brief on telemedicine reported that organizations are more frequently turning to telemedicine to cut costs, add services and extend their care reach.

Overall, the most popular telemedicine tool is the two-way/webcam solution, which increased 70 percent, according to the HIMSS Analytics brief, but because of the complex and diverse telemedicine market and its continually growing number of vendors can sometimes make it difficult to summarize. But the numbers don’t lie. As the market continues to mature, healthcare organizations continue to put telemedicine tools to work.
